How much does it cost?

The fees for undertaking a masters are based on the number of credit points in that course, MA Art in Public, MA Multi-disciplinary Design and MDes Textile Material Product all are 180 credit point courses. MFA is a 240 credit points course.

Can I take the course in part time?

MA Art in Public, MA Multi-disciplinary Design and MDes Textile Material Product are all available in part time mode. MFA is available only in full time mode.

What is the time commitment?

When does the course commence and how long does it last?

MA Art in Public, MA Multi-disciplinary Design and MDes Textile Material Product commence in September of each year and run for a total of 3 semesters:

  1. September – January
  2. February – May
  3. September – January

NB MFA has 4 semesters, with the 4th semester running January – May.

How are the courses delivered?

The courses are delivered within a modular structure.

Modules have different weightings with the emphasis being on practice led research. Every student takes 60 credits per semester in full time mode and 30 per semester in part time mode.

How many modules do I have to take?

It is not based on the number but their credit points. To achieve a masters you must have 180 credits (or 240 for an MFA).

What type of modules are available?

The matrix of modules have been designed to complement each other and provide a framework for engaged research centred around ones own practice. There are practice based modules and research type modules. See the module page for specific information

Will I be given studio space?

Every masters student will be allocated space in which to work. There is a large masters studio in which to engage with cross disciplinary discussion.

Each course has a deadline for applications, please consult the University website.

What do I need to apply as an International student?

A very good knowledge of English is necessary for all the MA courses.

Applicants who are not native speakers must prove/document their proficiency in the English language through:

Exceptions are possible where there has been a successful completion of an English-speaking degree program in the past.

Are there halls of residence?

The Belfast campus has no halls of residence but students can live on the Jordanstown campus approximately 5 miles outside Belfast or rent accommodation in Belfast.
